White competes for Little Miss Magnolia State | Local News

Pre-teen Miss Jones County Chloe White of Laurel will be a contestant in the statewide Little Miss and Mr. Magnolia State Pageant finals in Vicksburg July 25-26. Her parents are Joe and Amy White.

More than 200 contestants ages newborn to 11 will compete in the state finals to win one of the coveted titles. This pageant is unique where the children do not wear pageant attire or anything fake such as hair, spray tans, etc. The winners of each division will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship for their future educations.

Chloe just completed third grade with honors at West Jones Elementary. Her hobbies include vocal instruction from Gwen Phillips; ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop lessons at Laurel Ballet Academy; and gymnastics at Laurel Cheer and Gym. Chloe has competed in six pageants since November. She was chosen as the overall winner in two and placed in two others.

“Chloe enjoys pageants because it gives her an opportunity to go to new places and meet new people outside of her everyday life,” Amy White said. “And of course there is the added bonus of getting to play dress up.

“As a pageant mom, I am honored that she enjoys them so much. I see it as a healthy way to develop high self-esteem and learn to be involved in community projects.”
